My mother’s name means ‘lotus’ in Vietnamese. It’s also the National flower of Vietnam.
I love the buddhist story – which reminds me of my Vietnamese grandmother - how a lotus can represent life and growth, from dark muddy depths of a river, reaching up to the sunlight and finally opening to the sky with one of the most beautiful flowers. This one’s for all the mums (and mums of mums) out there.
