Bubble Letter Alphabet CAD Sculpting Exercise
No chair models for the 7th week of lock down in New Zealand... Instead, something a bit more esoteric. I started modelling the alphabet as nurbs surfaces three months ago, but ran out of motivation. Thanks to the first two weeks of lock down, I managed to get this completed. Some of the letters took several attempts using different patch layouts and different approaches. My goal was to get good highlight flow AND G2 surface connections, however this was not always possible. I did not start at A and end with Z, I picked a letter pretty much randomly, so therefore the modelling quality is a little variable. If you want to get better at sculpting Y and K junctions, I'd recommend doing something similar to this exercise!
Modelled in Rhino 5, set up/materials in Lightwave, lit using HDR Light Studio Tungsten and rendered with Octane 2019.
