Kempegowda International Airport served 33.30 million passengers during the Financial Year 2018–19, enhancing its reputation as one of the fastest growing airports in the world.

Existing Problems

1 — Distance
Located around 28 KM from the Bangalore City Railway Station transportation was always going to be hard especially during peak hours and late night flights.

2 — Increasing Red-eye Flights & KIAS Bus Timings
KIAS Buses a.k.a “Vayu Vajra” is a bus service from Bangalore Airport to several destinations in the city through its 12 routes.Though there are enough buses connecting all parts of the city the timings of these buses are available only between 6:00 am to 10:00 pm and NA during Red-eye flight hours.
A red-eye flight is a flight that takes off late at night and arrives early in the morning, usually taking off after 9:00 pm and arriving by 5:00 or 6:00 am.

3 — Ola/Uber Costs
Ola and Uber have made an amazing job by setting pickup zones to reduce congestion in the parking lot. But that isn’t gonna please everyone to take their service which costs anywhere between Rs.800 — Rs.1200 depending on the cab type.

4 — Luggage
A normal person might carry a backpack or upto 4 bags along with him/her. When it’s on the higher side (4 Bags) our mentality comes to a stop where we think nothing more that just booking an Ola or a Uber.

Supply

The Idea was to come up with Carpooling options in Airport Zone which can reduce the cost of transportation and also available during untimely hours. There are three options to create supply here:

a. Airport Employees
People working with Airport Authority of India and with specific airlines who travel in their vehicles everyday.

b. Cab Services
Tie-up with cab services like Meru Cabs and provide carpooling within their platform.

c. Business Travellers
People doing Round trips for Business Meetings who are more likely to have their own vehicles for Transportation.

User Flow

A user normally has 10–20 minutes time to book a taxi from the time he gets out of the aircraft to picking up luggage from the belt to exiting the airport. The following is a chart on how a user behaves in booking a taxipool/carpool in an Airport Zone.

Important Steps

1. Understanding Luggage
As we know people travel with bags ranging from Handbags to Big Trolleys, it’s important to understand the no. of bags a user is carrying before grouping and allotting people together.

And understanding the size of luggage is tough cause of the different size and weight limits. So, we came up with an interactive Luggage selection that let’s you know the no. of bags and the limit to easily help you add your data.

2. Booking Charges
To reduce the no. of cancellations and since the final cost of the trip will be only clear once the no. of riders cap in a taxi is met. It’s easier for the rider to pay a Booking Charge (Flat charge — Rs.50) before getting the final confirmation of the ride. So, once you pay the booking fee the allotment is done!

There are opportunities in Outstation trips as well from Airports, mainly in Tier-2 cities like Bhopal, Dehradun, Madurai, etc. where people travel via these Cities.
