5日間に及ぶ世界初の'自宅'壁画フェスティバル- HOME 2020 Stay at home mural festival-に参加した際の作品です。 #EARTHDAY2020 をテーマに4/21-26の期間で400人を超えるアーティストが世界中から参加しました。

‘VANITAS’
——
The person appearing from the noir red represents human. A lot of the plants look beautiful but they are fading away, and they seem to be ignoring us. The skull is a symbol of ’Vanitas’ which is often used in the 17th century paintings to represent vanity.

Personally I've been going back and forth between Australia and Japan for a year. To my surprise, all of my essential things fits into one suit case, and I haven't had much trouble packing. Now I’m back in Japan (because of the Corona Virus) and I have realized there're many unnecessary thing's in my house. ‘花は手折らず愛でるもの’ It’s a cliché in Japan which means ‘Don’t take flowers away to love them’. However we need to take life away for living.
So we must learn to give up control, and not to act greedy when it comes to life
We can respect and love it instead. As a conclusion I came to think so.

‘ヴァニタス’
ノワール調の沈んだ赤に浮かぶその人はどこか虚ろな表情。落とさんばかりに抱えた沢山の植物は綺麗だが少し萎れ、そっぽを向いている。ドクロは’ヴァニタス’虚しさの象徴です。
個人的な話ですが、この約1年間をオーストラリアと日本を行き来して暮らしました。その間、驚いた事に必要な荷物は全て1つのキャリーケースに収まり、殆ど困ることはありませんでした。新型ウイルスの影響で日本に帰国すると、自宅に残した自分の荷物の多さに驚きます。こんなに沢山の物を自分は所有していて、しかもそれを1年間必要としなかったなんて。
’花は手折らず愛でるもの’という言葉が日本にはあるけど、いのちを奪わずには人は生きてはいけない。ならせめて、傲慢にコントロールして持ち過ぎることは辞めて、感謝して愛でることはできるんじゃないかと思うようになりました。
