Arthur Rimbaud – Vowels
Grafické úprava Rimbaudovy básně Samohlásky je usazena do tri-fold čtvercového formátu. Použité typografické ilustrace doplňují báseň, ve které autor využívá asociace vyvolané jednotlivými samohláskami. Po formální stránce jsou ilustrace komponované za pomoci samohlásek A, E, I, O, U v rozmanitých druzích písma, od geometrické Futury po vysoce kontrastní Bodoni. Z hlavního obrazu jsou provedeny různé velikostní výřezy, které pak slouží jako jednotlivé ilustrace, přičemž počet ilustrací je přímo odvozen od počtu již zmíněných samohlásek. Jelikož výřezy jsou velmi rozmanité, od téměř celkového pohledu po ten nejmenší detail, dostáváme možnost plně obdivovat rozličné krásy jednotlivých samohlásek a také struktur vzniklých jejich překrýváním.
The graphic treatment of Rimbaud’s poem Vowels is set in a tri-fold square brochure format. The used typographical illustrations complement the poem, in which the author uses the associations evoked by individual vowels. Formally, the illustrations are composed using the vowels A, E, I, O, U in a variety of typefaces, from geometric Futura to high contrast Bodoni. Variously sized cutouts made from the main image serve as individual illustrations, while the number of illustrations is directly derived from the number of the mentioned vowels. Since the cutouts are very diverse, from almost overall view to the smallest detail, we get the opportunity to fully admire the diverse beauty of individual vowels and the structures created by their overlapping.
