As cycling has a special place in my life, I connected that passion with my art and made a collection of colorful cycling jerseys. Within years I created many designs but not all of them ended up in production. I decided to dig them out from my drawer and gather into a presentation. I focus on joining my favorite motives and colors, inspired by nature, life and art. I do not follow any particular mode or common paths, I don't try to fit into any box. Designing patterns for cycling kits has for me almost a therapeutic effect. I am fully absorbed by the only process without any particular expectations for the outcome. It helps to be open to a seemingly accidental result which often appears to be exactly what I wished to achieve. Coincidence or destiny? Because of my long experience in painting furniture and being crazy about layered, chippy, flaky and weathered paint textures I intended to translate that distressed feel into a digital pattern. Paint exposed to extreme weather conditions flakes, cracks, discolors and creates abstract piece of art. Art made by coincidence of sun, rain, frost, mechanical distortion and time. How to convey that technique into a virtual "plain" world? During painting I am experimenting with all sorts of paints, techniques and various tools to achieve this amazing distressed look. I digitized my approach, changed physical tools for software and played around with brushes, masks, filters and shapes to create a rusty distressed surfaces with a hint of color.
