FH Phemister Collection
New Style Roman
FH Phemister is named after font designer Alexander Phemister. Inspired by letters created at the Edinburgh letter foundry. Vertical tension—bold, short, square brackets—most headers have a monotype width. Inspired by Phemister Old Style. In the 1850s, a series of historically themed books was published by the Chiswick Press, set in the revival of Caslon's old-style types. These editions came together with a notable success, hastening a general alienation from the skinny modern genres prevalent in book studies at the time and a return to the friendlier styles of earlier days, reshaped to comfortably suit the tastes of contemporary readers.
Available 20 styles in 2 subfamilies.
