A chess game where the two sides are the scene of a parenting relationship. The 65x65 cm chessboard figures are unique, not the usual shapes, and are made of sugar, to be more precise, cast from isomalt.

Sugar is my chosen motiv as it is a symbol of love . Ruedigler Dahkle writes in his volume "Illness as a Symbol" about diabetes, on the one hand we want sweetness (love) and we want to enjoy life, yet we refuse to capture boundless love in it’s full depth, do not dare surren- der to feelings sweet life touch me. ” Absence and excessive accumula- tion can lead to illness or poor health. I make use of the symbolic meaning and material of sugar at the same time: I cast six figures out of sugar,

representing action-emotional modes. The two squares of the chess- board intend to portray the symbolic struggle of a mother and father as a tactician against each other for their purposes.

I made the figures from my childhood lego games and then sampled them with silicone. 

The formality of lego figures emphasizes the learning process of childhood patterns. On top of that, the finished puppets were deformed, which was conscious of the design, so they look like they were really damaged in a war, just like the image that emerges in a child.

The pawn symbolizes gift, money and livelihood in this game.

The Pawn is always who take the first step, and this figure is the easiest to be sacrifice. The pawn belongs to the ma- terial world

The Rook became the spread table.
The rook is the symbol of guarding and observation, so I per- sonalized it by caring for the family, feeding, and paying atten- tion to the needs.

The knight was replaced by a car. The knight is a symbol of the Divine Law that we must always consider in our actions. Like a car, we have to drive our lives and our family and, in many cases, make decisions. If we move to the right or left, all our actions will affect the whole family.

The runner is the parenting of the child. Moves diagonally across the board, and its possible steps describe the X symbol. The cross, or the X, calls for the crucifixion of egoistic desires, meaning that the child (would) be the primary one to do everything, but this puppet can also refer to teaching values..

The Queen is the most valuable piece on the board, so the mother-father match appears. That is, if the king, the "symbol of our being", is the mother, the queen will be replaced by the father. The best argument is always the action of the companion, as the rules of chess allow the queen to move anywhere on the board.

This problem also appears in Tari Annamaria's book: "the generation ... has been born into a much tougher world where verbal or physical aggression is common to most families,
and narcissistic aggressive personality disorders are much more common" .
In the design of the Figures, I tried to portray this as they are destructive, not perfectly cast.
