Stairway of the Mercure Palace - Budapest

Many decades ago it was a telephone centre with lots of people sitting in rows and making physical cable connections so that who had access to a phone can call another person. The building was rather shabby after a while, and as our modern age has made these kind of facilities obsolete, no one really cared about it. 

Fast forward a few years (actually many years), and investors showed up who wanted to convert the old palace into an office building. Fortunately the owners really cared about the architectural heritage and hired special crew to painstakingly renovate the whole building from basement to top.

As most of the building is rented for companies it is almost impossible to get in to make any photos. However, the owner let me in to capture the magnificent stairway of the building. It seems my love for stairways is insatiable.
