2015 | Concorso di idee per il bivacco Fanton

Kind: architecture, high-mountain architecture

Place: Marmarole | Dolomiti UNESCO (BL)

Year: 2015
The project presented for this competition was the first project produced by our team, before the founding of Lab 0 ...
The competition, organized by Sezione Cadorina del CAI di Auronzo and Fondazione Architettura Belluno Dolomiti, was aimed at finding proposals for the reconstruction of the F.lli Fanton bivouac on Marmarole (BL), in the Northern Dolomites system.
The proposed solution was the construction of a wooden structure, with red and gray sheet metal cladding, which can be divided into 4 parts for helicopter transport and assembly, anchored to the rocky outcrops with metal cages to be filled with aggregates.
The relationship with the context, the orientation, the weather conditions and the use of the internal spaces define the compact and irregular shape of the bivouac.
The interior, clearly divided into three living and sleeping areas, can accommodate up to 12 hikers. The irregular windows of various sizes open in different directions on the main surrounding Dolomite peaks.
