2016 | Balconi panoramici Dolomiti UNESCO

Kind: architecture, high-mountain architecture

Place: Monte Rite, Monte Agudo, Loc. Faverghera (BL) | Dolomiti UNESCO

Year: 2016 - 2019

The project concern the construction of 3 panoramic balconies of the Hot Spot Dolomiti UNESCO network, in three different places in the Province of Belluno: Monte Rite, on the border between the municipalities of Cibiana di Cadore and Valle di Cadore, close to the Messner Mountain Museum Dolomites, Mount Agudo, in the municipality of Auronzo di Cadore, and Faverghera, in the municipality of Belluno.
The three balconies were designed following the guidelines provided by the Dolomiti UNESCO Foundation, and therefore agree with those already made in the past years in the provinces of Bolzano and Trento.
The structure, made of steel and concrete, seems to rise from the surrounding ground, and houses inside a 270° or 360° panoramic compass, which illustrates the outline of the surrounding mountains and dolomite systems. Some information panels placed outside the compass complete the balcony, providing indications on the environment and geology that characterize the Dolomites and reporting the values and the message that Dolomiti UNESCO undertakes to transmit.
