I facilitate opportunities for students to gain professional experience and apply their growing skill sets to real design situations by employing service learning. Through service-learning, my students—use what they learn in studio to solve real-life problems. They not only learn the practical applications of their design studies, they become actively contributing design leaders, citizens and community members through the service they perform.

Promotional Posters
Sophomore VISC 204 Designing Understanding students collaborated with Kuhn and Wittenborn to design promotional posters for the 2012-2013 series of plays. Students met with Jeff Church, the Director, to make sure the poster’s reflected the tone, message of the play. Students were able to present their design work to Kuhn and Wittenborn and Coterie staff and receive feedback through group critiques. The “best” posters were selected and were used in their promotional efforts (including being posted throughout Crown Center) for the 2012-2013 season.
