Structural Steel 3D renders

This is a collection of work completed for a drafting company. I was provided with 3D models and scanned point-cloud data from the drafting team. Using these, I was required to produce various images to communicate the company's various services and how they fit in to the entire lifecycle of a project.

For some renders I decided to create a photorealistic material library, while for others I produced a more stylised "blueprint" or sketch/outlined style. I then combined these with other elements like placement over satellite imagery or photos. I usually created the final composition in Photoshop, transitioning between the styles to communicate the transition between scanning, 3D modelling, drawing creation and fabrication of the steelwork.
A concept render of a model, transitioning from outlines, to a 'blueprint' style, to photorealistic. Used to communicate the transition from drawing to 3D model to fabrication.
A concept render with the model and projected shadow portion isolated.
A concept render with the model superimposed onto a photo of the fabrication yard.
A collection of materials used to render 3D models.
A concept render of multiple models from a large site, with a material emphasising  the geometry detail.

A highly detailed point cloud scan in black and white, transitioned to the same one in colour, with mocked up annotations to communicate how laser scans can be used to measure geometry in great detail.
Testing out a realistic aged steel texture.
A concept render of a project, overlaid on top of its real world position in Google maps.
A concept render of a section of a large site.
