Noviembre

After Laws of Motion, Joel Escalona’s first collaboration as a guest designer for BREUER, we present Noviembre, the collection that marks the beginning of Joel as the company’s Creative Director. Establishing a clear and solid vision for BREUER, we worked to define the new pillars on which the company will be built, including this new collection.
Noviembre is a furniture collection that through seats, tables and decorative pieces, invites you to explore form, function and, most of all, the feeling of the slow, opulent and serene lines that characterize each of these pieces. The collection, inspired by the creative values of Constantin Brancusi, a Romanian sculptor considered one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century, who, through his highly simplified figures and free of all ornaments, sought to appeal intellect and senses, representing his vision of the true essence of things.
Manufactured by BREUER, Noviembre is a collection conformed by furniture for contemporary spaces such as tables, chest of drawers and dining chairs, as well as comfortable lounge chairs, console tables and sculptural bookshelves.

Noviembre will debut during ZsONAMACO 2020, the most important contemporary art and design fair in Latin America, where leading international art and design galleries will be present during the events surrounding Mexico City Art Week.

ABOUT THE COLLECTION

“This is not a bird that flies, but the idea of a bird that flies” explained Romanian sculptor, Constantin Brancusi, when questioned about his apparently abstract sculptures: “What they call abstract is the most real, because the real thing is not the outside, if not the idea, the essence of things…”

In the same line of thought and avoiding the inevitable aesthetic references from this great sculptor, we wonder if it is possible to personify emotions or sensations through objects, which we usually attribute to their physical appearance, and rarely to their essence, since an object can sometimes be defined not only by what it does, but also by what it represents.
In this universe where the same form is used with different purposes, where an object not only inhabits a space, but also an idea. Here, where comfort is not only physical and where relaxation can also be a space, we celebrate the happiness of the sculpturally beautiful, the luxury of appreciating the shades within everyday sensations, the freedom of creating with clear feelings, the lyrical of slow, opulent and imperfect shapes.
While Brancusi’s work goes from child-like ingenuity to wisdom, from intellect to intuition and from figuration to abstraction, Noviembre, created under those ideals, invites to experiment lines and warm, serene and tender compositions. The collection shares objects that use beauty as a promise for happiness and that invite to think of the true essence of things.
