For this project, I focused on emotions I had been dealing with over the course of a few months; putting those feelings into artwork. Over this semester of school, I’ve been putting those emotions and struggles I was dealing with into my artwork; showing the passion I have behind each one.

Anger: At this point in my life, I was incredibly angry with events that occurred and how they ended. No matter how hard I tried to forgive myself and the situation, I still found myself hostile, frustrated, and spiteful. In this piece, I used the lines and kept them sharp and harsh; portraying the emotions, as well as the dark raging halo behind the figure’s head representing the fury that was felt.
Depression: This piece represents the beginning of a dark period in my life. I left the outlines sketchy to show the way that my life felt, as if I didn’t have the energy to clean up “the lines” in my life. The way the brush strokes are painted are meant to look like coursing tears. The background represents the darkness that loomed over me. I focused on the eyes and made sure the pain and sorrow were visible.
Happiness: For this final piece of the project, I wanted to portray myself the way I see myself and the way I hope to feel in the future. Recently, I’ve really identified with and took solace from the sun. I wanted to depict that in the color and halo behind the figure’s head. I see myself as a guy who’s optimistic, fun-loving, and positive, and I wished for that part of me to emerge from the darkness.
