This installation will achieve many goals at one time:

    - it will create a magical quite calm relaxing feeling,
    - it will provide a new nicer energy saving light at Zona Tortona all the year round,
    - it will enhance the design spirit of the place,    
    - it will give occasion for people to meet and play,
    - it will provoke people visit Zona Tortona more often,
    - it will entertain and relax people, while  making them play,
    - it will help Zona Tortona to benefit financially.

Although, all the year round there are events held in Tortona’s lofts and showrooms, but even by going along via Tortona you can’t know what is happening. We want to design Zona Tortona the way, which will eliminate the status of the area and will correspond more with the life of the zone.

We propose to create a net of cables tightened between two sudes of the street, on the intersection of wireses an LED light fixture will be installed. Due to the fact that nets of wires will start from the entrances to the buildings, net will be more dense near entrances and so entrances will be illuminated brighter, then the rest of the street..

 This structure will give a possibility to play different scenarios of illumination on the street. It will be possible to create evening scenario – which will illuminate the whole zone and will respect the situation on the street - entrances will be illuminated brighter, due to the shape of the net. At night an energy saving mode can be used, when only facades and pedestrian sidewalks are lightened. In this mode system can be programmed to follow with lights objects on the roadway. That will entertain inhabitants and will help to prevent car accidents.

On Christmas two entrances to Zona Tortona - railways bridge from Pta Genova and piazza with an entrance to La Scala Workshops - will be filled with white airballons, which everyone will be welcome to take. The shape of the net organizes cells of different dimensions. Because of that when people will let their balloon fly – it can stay in the net and organize a cloud with other balloons in the areas where the net is more dense - in front of the entrances to the buildings, or it can fly away in less dense parts of the net. Also randomly in the net into LED fixture modules will be installed units with a needle. And when balloon meets the needle, it explodes, and artificial snow out of it falls on the street.

Such balloon games can be organized for different holidays and events, for example for St. Valentine’s ay, for Salone del Mobile, for MIArt Fair, for Helloween, and many others.  Also, Zona Tortona can financially benefit from this installation. Because many companies can find it effective to sponsor that kind of shows, they will be able to fulfill the place with balloons of corporate colors and with company’s logo on and put inside the balloons small flayer commercials, which will rain on the street, when a balloon blows up.
