Creative Hubs in Moscow

Creative Hub
Place where people and ideas meet.
Brief:
Creative Hud can be defined as a space that induce creative thinking, a place where designers meet with citizens to enhance creative influences and art. It is requested to submit a design project for a Creative Hub that meets the need of the selected area, explaining the reasons of the choice and the functional programme identified.

Location site:
In my project I consider the possibility of returning the function of public transportation to the Small Circle Railroad, which was closed for passengers 80 years ago. The intersections of the SCR, integrated into the general transportation system of Moscow, with other modes of public transport will form large intersection nodes. Using these nodes it will be also possible to integrate the water transport, which nowdays do not have any
intercharge nodes with other types of public transport and are used mostly as a tourist entertainment in common transportation system. According to city’s plan 7 big intercharge nodes will be formed. They will consolidate in one place such transportations as underground, waterbuses, main motor-roads, suburban trains, express trains to the airports. This innovation can be a solution to the transportation problem actual for Moscow. New intercharge terminals might be very good places for developing Creative Hubs
Urban problems:
Moscow’s main transport problems: traffic jams, crowded subway, a lack of parking and a high concentration of
interchange nodes in the city center.

Dead capital:
There are unused transport resources in Moscow: river - is used only for tourist purposes and a limited amount
of cargo. SCR is not used because major production facalities were moved outside the city center.

Poosible solution:
Integrating SCR and Moscow riverin existing transport system will organize 7 new inerchange nodes distant from the city centre.
City interface:
Creative Hubs in Moscow can be organized in 7 new main transfer terminals as a net of auditoriums for a variety of workshops, forums, conferences and discussions between architects, urban planners, designers, city florists, polygraphists, etc.

One wall of the hub will has a view to the city, and from the other side it is separated from the terminal hall with a transparent interactive panl, which will reflect the information about events of the hub: description and dates, main questions discussed and polls with a possibility of an immidiate vote by touching the sensible panel. The transparency of the wall and the information given will involve passangers into the process and will invite them to participate. The creative hub will also have a post box in the terminal hall, for people who got interested but don’t have time for dialogue to write their thoughts and comments and drop it into the box on their way back. All the information about workshops will also be on the web-site, where it also will be possible to leave comments and ideas. In that way the system of creative hubs auditoriums in transport terminals will give a platform for
professionals to meet and discuss their professional problems and find decisions collectivly, it will involve citizens into discussions and simplify gathering of the social opinion.
