DAVIT CRANE STRUCTURE

This project was successfully completed along with scaled down manufacturing of the structure. Davit is a crane like structure used on ships to lower down the life saving boats in case of an emergency and thus strict Norwegian maritime authority design codes apply and were fully complied in the design. Following design calculations were performed for this machine

1) hydraulic cylinder bore and stroke selection based on load lifting requirements

2) pulley sizes calculations

3) bearing selection calculation 

4) Shear due to bolts 

5) Allowable steel wire tension

6) HP required for winch
