Lauren Horzewski's profile

As a left brained designer, I use logic when I design, meaning I figure out how things function and how parts work together all as part of my design process. If something is supposed to transform or open, I first have to figure out how exactly that works because that strongly impacts the way the product will look. This design process is efficient and effective for creating cohesive and successful designs.

Friendship Abroad is an original doll line that I've been developing since the fall of 2018.

By design, Friendship Abroad’s mission is to impress upon our youngest generation the importance of learning about other languages and cultures, embracing our differences, and building a global community.

The dolls themselves have the technology to interact with accessories and vehicles from the brand, as well as the person playing with them.

Below are two examples of games I designed.

The first is a preschool game called "Silly Face Pancakes," which is a game where players move breakfast themed pawn around the board collecting different facial features for their pancake. The first player to complete their Silly Face Pancake is the winner!

The second is a card game for a slightly older audience, ages 7 and up. "Fresh Trades: The Grocery Shopping Game" is a card game where players collect different grocery items to complete grocery lists for varying amounts of points. The first player to complete enough grocery lists for 20 points, wins!
The Scooby-Doo Vehicle Playset I designed, encourages kids 3-8 to capture and unmask classic Scooby-Doo villains by helping Scooby and the gang successfully complete the elaborate and goofy traps in the form of a vehicle playset.

This is one of my more complicated and thought out play patterns, as there are many moving parts and pieces. It took many bran-storms sketches to come up with the final product. The sketches shown explore the functionality of the different elements and how they connect not only to each other, but to the story and play pattern. The other sketches explore different possibilities for playing out the story.
