MechaBunny: Clue Engineering (Part 1 - Concept/Story)

Mecha-Bunny - An original action figure concept line
(Part one - Concept & Story)
When looking for inspiration to create my own action figure line, I thought back to the types of shows I used to watch. I didn't really watch many action packed shows, but I've always loved the lighthearted adventures and mystery themed shows.
I decided to go with a mystery/adventure theme. These are some examples of toys already on the market that helped inspire my concept.
I also wanted to explore the concept of possibly distributing part of the line via subscription/blind box.
This is the story of Mecha-Bunny: Clue Engineering
Our story begins at the end of the school day. Bethany and Felix are walking to the engineering classroom to get ready for the after school engineering club. Oliver and Samantha meet them there shortly after.

Bethany points out that their teacher, Mr. Rez, isn't there yet but that there are worksheets on his desk for them. Felix, being the troublemaker that he is, is sitting at Mr. Rez's desk waiting to see his reaction when he walks in.

Some time goes by and Oliver notices that Mr. Rez still isn't there and that he would also never miss an engineering club meeting without telling them.
Felix notices some boxes in the corner of the room with each of their names. There's also a note from Mr. Rez:

Dear students of the engineering club,

Sorry to leave without notice, but I have been working on a very secret project for some time now. I’m not able to disclose my location or project to you yet, but I need your help!

Something came up in the middle of my project and I was unable to finish. Inside of these boxes is the project I was working on and I’ve already divided it up for each of you. Once this project is finished, I need you to come find me. It’s VERY important that you keep this a secret! No one else can know about this project or my location, which is why I’ve left you clues to my location that only the smartest students can solve! And when you find me, I will give you one of my blueprint notebooks as a thank you!

I believe in you guys and I hope to see you all soon!

Mr. Rez
Bethany opens up one of the boxes and points out that it's just a bunch of spare parts. Oliver notices there's also a clue in each box. Samantha finally gets two pieces to fit together and they realize what they have to do.
They each put their box of parts together to create their very own Mecha-Animals. As each of them start up, they make noises and flash lights as they begin to move around. The kids are nothing less than amazed at their teacher's creations.
Bethany can only imagine what other inventions they might find in Mr. Rez's notebook when they find him. Samantha imagines there might be a shrink ray, and then they could see what it would be like to be the size of an ant. Felix speculates with her and imagines everyone ELSE the size of ants.

Bethany says theres no time to waste and that they should get going!
As they begin their adventure, Felix and Mecha-Fox decide that they want to find Mr. Rez first and keep the notebook to themselves. However, in order to find their teacher and his notebook, they must utilize the different features of each of the mechas.
Mecha-Bunny has a black light nose, activated by the buttons on the side of its head. This would reveal hidden messages on clues.
Mecha-Fox has a tail that lights up red to reveal a secret message in a different kind of way on other clues.
Mecha-Salamander has an extendable and removable tail that would act similarly to multiple types of wrenches.
Mecha-Owl has a cypher on its wing to decode certain clues.
You would be able to buy each of the characters with a clue and their individual Mechas in stores. For more fun, you could go online to solve more clues and play games. For even MORE fun, you could subscribe to the subscription box for more investigation/engineering tools to solve special clues - and when you solve enough, you just might find Mr. Rez and his notebook in your subscription box!
