Analog Cities: Los Angeles & Santa Barbara
Once upon a time in the West...
Chapter one. I had never been to Los Angeles before late in my twenties, but I spent my thirty's birthday there, unexpectedly; I got to drive a Corvette for a night. I go there every year now, and I still do not know how I feel about it. A complementary love & hate relationship is probably the closest I can think of. But then LA, as it is called, would need a counterpart, to equilibrate the whole. That would be SB, Santa Barbara.
Both can be very cheesy, and the size of one city puts the other to shame, with traffic lights every hundredth of yards, flowers everywhere and polite inhabitants. To which one has the nicest weather, this has yet to be decided, while their respective mexican population grant delicious meals to the visitors. In both of them I can relax and flee to the other when one is too depressing.
