OSLO FREEDOM FORUM

Background
The Oslo Freedom Forum (OFF) provides a global platform for human rights defenders to share their stories, by uniting a diverse community of activists, technologists, artists, and entrepreneurs from around the world to defend human rights.

Role
Art Director, Senior Designer

Brief
To create an iconic localised yet global identity for the OSLO Freedom Forum in Johannesburg.

Concept
The look and feel for the event was designed to showcase the stories, hardships, expressions and textures of all contributors. Each speaker had an individual montage of pictures and textures based on their locale and life stories.
The visual language was inspired by textures such as, the Johannesburg Skyline, tunnels,
criss-cross fences, cold concrete textures, life stories from books and journaling all that
came together in the main look and feel.
Each speaker had their own unique montage beautifully composed, in the visual grid. Showcasing their stories, background, quotes, and what they stand for.
All campaign touch-points, echoed the theme and extended to other icons that spoke to freedom such as the icon voting “x”.
The campaign look and feel successfully extended into outdoor media.
Event collateral design, programme book and name tags.
Theme extension into venue spaces such as registration welcome counter, wallpaper design,
and gallery.
