»Silent Night« is probably the most famous Christmas carol worldwide and is sung during Christmas season by about two billion people in over 300 languages and dialects. Originally a simple poem by Joseph Mohr, Franz Xaver Gruber set it to music for guitar and voice. In 1818, it was performed for the first time during the Christmas Eve mass in Oberndorf near Salzburg. The song reflects the desire for peace and hope at that time, which was shaken by war, hunger and poverty. Due to its unique message of peace, the song is recognised and listed by UNESCO as a piece of national world heritage.

For celebrating the bicentenary of the world-renowned Christmas carol, we were given the task of designing the book »Silent Night« for the publishing house Servus by Benevento Publishing. High information content, biographical details and historical recordings form the basis of the book, which was graphically transformed into a harmonious composition. The festive presentation is rounded off by golden cover paper with strong pigmentation by Gmund. Hallelujah!
