Niche home fragrances by FAINA Design
A celebration of nature and craft traditions in Ukraine –
live design brand FAINA has released the niche line of home scents based on aroma of moist earth
Victoria Yakusha, founder of FAINA Design has developed an author's line of 3 basic home scents – MOCHAR, CVIT and POLYN, released in the form of a diffuser, candle and soap. The packaging is handcrafted of local organic materials and the inspiration for the niche home fragrances comes from the earth - a natural element that gives life to all living things.
“The Earth is not only black soil, the territorial Homeland, it is also a part of our DNA, an ancient code transmitted to our times from the period of the ancient tribes, famine and wars on these lands, all the tears and victories that weave into our feelings, aspirations and dreams. I wanted to reflect all of the experiences of Ukrainian lands in the fragrances by FAINA", - says Victoria Yakusha, the author of the home scents.

POLYN home fragrance by FAINA captures the aromatic secret of ancient protective rituals, revealed by smoky Taurian wormwood and intoxicating thyme, continuing in a fold of tarry Carpathian spruce and freshly harvested field chamomile.
CVIT home fragrance by FAINA reveals a trail of floral femininity – accents of pepper-sweet calamus and sage, shoots of a young sorcerer-fern amidst a rampage of field inflorescences, softly tinted with white tars of the Carpathian trees.
MOCHAR home fragrance by FAINA personifies the connection between the past and the future, which begin with earth. Its incense in the harmony of dry grass and humid breathing soil covered with needles of Cossack juniper and birch bark haze.
Each of the aromas is original, complex and unique - all the components were chosen with an eye to their closest proximity to Ukrainian traditions, environmental friendliness and the ability to turn any space into a cosy home.
The candles and organic soap of the Home fragrances by FAINA were also worked very carefully, selecting aromas from natural oils. Candles are made by hand on the basis of soy, and the soap is made from local natural oils such as sunflower, corn, linseed and castor, as well as white clay.
“To follow our principles in design and make environmental friendly products for soap we used only local organic materials without any animal fats or chemicals - this turned out to be a real feat”, - Victoria assured. The search for some ingredients lasted six months, but the result was a real work of art.
The eco-friendly packaging of home fragrance was also treated responsibly at FAINA: the unique odour containers are made manually from hot-glass, the boxes made from recycled wood, and the labels made from reprocessed craft paper with the addition of wormwood and dried flowers.
It is noteworthy that the use of the hot-glass in perfumery is an exceptional rarity because of the complexity and artificiality of its production make each perfume bottle a unique art object. Involving Lviv based craftsmen to create containers for FAINA from hot-glass is a tribute to the ancient craft traditions, whose roots go back to the times of Kyivan Rus.
