This is a render I made to explain a new seat design and arrangement for minibus taxi's in South Africa. 

 

The designs where made as part of a group project with a guest lecturer from the USA at the University of Johannesburg.

 

Minibus taxi's are generally very unsafe in South Africa due to a lack of maintenance, the driver/vehicle owner relationship and overloading.

We spent a day riding around in minibus taxi’s and searched for multiple issues to approach, speaking to both the drivers and the passengers for information.

 

Our group decided to design a modular rotation moulded seat structure that becomes very uncomfortable if more than one passenger attempts to sit on a single seat, reducing the amount of overloading considerably.
