Type Hierarchy Exploration

I used a headline from The New York Times to explore various compositions along a grid, and I was particularly interested in type hierarchy. While setting this type, I found myself considering the following parameters: location, orientation, type size differences, contrast in weight, structure, form, motion, alignment, texture, and density. Throughout this process, I developed a passion for minding the finer points of typesetting, spatial considerations, legibility, clarity, and dynamics. I paired a serif and a sans serif typeface to work in cohesion, played with repeating words to create patterns, practiced restraint to portray lightness, and went big to allude to what might be just beyond the frame.
