Clinical Hospital Branding

R&D Institute Prof. S.V. Ochapovsky KKB No. 1 is a front-rank medical institution that in many respects occupies a leading position in the healthcare industry in Russia.

The new concept of corporate identity for R&D Institute Prof. S.V. Ochapovsky KKB No. 1 was developed by GORYANIN BROTHERS. The created concept is aimed at conveying the desire of the medical institution not only to stay at the top of the profession in what has already been achieved, but also to strive for leadership in other components important for the patient.

The created trademark of R&D Institute KKB No. 1 reflects several key ideas of the brand concept. First of all, the new sign refers us to the name of the institution, namely the hospital number, No. 1. Secondly, No. 1 in the sign reminds us that the hospital holds a leading position in the country in many respects. Thirdly, the sign refers to the famous Star of Life symbol, which has six points, representing the six main tasks that rescuers execute in the emergency response chain (detection, reporting, response, on-scene care, care in transit, transfer to definitive care). Also, when thinking up the concept of this sign, the brand designer was inspired by the Leonardo da Vinci’s drawing of the Vitruvian man as an image of the harmony between spiritual and bodily health.

When developing the corporate identity, the brand designer took into account the specifics and needs of the hospital and the possible areas of use of identity elements. For example, a fairly rich palette was provided for additional corporate colors.

One of the important tasks was to address the inconvenience with the visitors’ navigation signage in the very large area of the hospital and inside the buildings. To do this, a guidance system including several components was developed for the R&D Institute Prof. S.V. Ochapovsky KKB No. 1. A 3D map was compiled that displayed the entire complex of hospital buildings. In the wayfinding signage system, each of the buildings was numbered and color-coded. Also, street navigation pillars were developed, which were placed on the premises of the institution. Each pillar, in its location, showed the priority routes and distances to key facilities.

Other areas where the corporate identity was used were development of the web page concept and newsletters for the R&D Institute KKB No. 1.
