About Workshop:
Gaga class is taught by Nataša Novotná who as a teacher works closely with the choreographer and creator of gaga Ohad Naharin. She guides the participants using a series of evocative instructions that are built one on the top of another. Rather than copying a particular movement, each participant actively explores these instructions, discovering how he or she can interpret the information and perform the task at hand. Gaga offers a creative framework for participants to connect to their bodies and imaginations, increase their physical awareness, improve their flexibility and stamina, and experience the pleasure of movement in a welcoming, accepting atmosphere. After the class focusing on individual abilities and body positioning.
The fusion of the first part with the second one will happen in the afternoon where from the movement we will go into voice! The second part includes voice practice where Alessio Castellacci will share some principles from his approach to vocal-physical performance “The Synesthetic Voice”, to activate the innate pulsating qualities of breath, body and vocality. We will tune our listening to the complex rhythms that are already present in our speech, breath, movement, and learn how to harness those micro-rhythms to create improvised percussive vocal music in group/duets/trios. Alessio will share with the participants some practical tricks to get out of our head and into our body groove, to trust any impulse of vowels and consonants that arises from the body and to channel it into improvised vocal music. The Synesthetic Voice is a joyful and addictive practice!
