Greater Reading Infographic

While at my internship, Greater Reading Economic Partnership came to us yet again needing more design work. This time they wanted an infographic that could be used both on their website, and even in some of the local papers and magazines. I was given 8 facts that they wanted featured in the graphic and I drew the basic color palette from their branding. With complete freedom, I was able to create a colorful, fun, and informative graphic. Once it was finished and was sent to the client they were thrilled with the infographic’s imagery and style.
One of the main challenges when creating this was figuring out exactly what GREP was trying to say with each of its facts we were given. Without context, many could be interpreted in different ways which could change the way they are represented. The last one on the list especially was tough to decipher, and I initially thought it was to show incoming businesses how many costumers are within a short distance of the area. After some clarification from the client, it turns out the fact was based on how most commercial shippments are done overnight so the graphic was adapted with a truck rather than the Scion FR-S.  :,(
Below are some of the many designs that did not make the cut.
Many of these were dropped due to clarity issues, others for small nit-picky reasons such as "Reading only having a couple businesses of Japanese origin.". Also, you can see the eariler version of the "100 million" graphic that has a more "consumer" motive than the later "shippment" motive.
