The salt and pepper mill expresses the emotion in assertive compositions through its form. Although these staples are found on kitchen tables across the world, they are far from boring when executed in the proper way.
I have designed a few spice grinders with exotic and highly functional forms.
Inspiration: Salt and pepper have always been of particular importance in Europian cuisine, structuring as columns of flavors and traditions. This concept is inspired by the iconography of the column.
The Pleated structure of the knob combined with a solid body makes easy to hold with a correct weigh balance intends to create an experience that just feels right for your hands. Bold colors like pink and green witness the richness and luxury of the product.
Materials: This mill can be manufactured in wood, plastic, silicon and their composites.
Inspiration: The form is inspired by a traditional Indian stone spice grinder known as 'Okhal'. The defined grains pale in color tone of the polished walnut wood helps the ingredient inside to exhibit its real property.
Simple and ergonomic form elevates the functionality of the product. The inverted taper of the knob offers a great grip as well as adds value to the form of aesthetics. Internal curvature exposes a funnel shape making it easier for the user to top up the grinder with sea salt or black pepper.
The mill comes in two sizes. one for household purposes and the large size for real professionals.
Inspiration: A modern take on the classic capstan mill, this salt and pepper grinder adds style to the table whilst remaining an everyday kitchen tool. Its small size and the Pantone colors make it a perfect grinder suitable for both traditional and modern environments. Chromium emphasizes the attempt to balance and harmony. Adjust the grind from fine to coarse by tightening or loosening the knob on the lid.
This traditional mill with contemprary twist is a complement to our modern lifestyle!
Inspiration: For this concept, I exhibited a form of vintage spice containers. Mills are nothing but the containers with the integrated grinding mechanism. The design combines two great durable materials: matte glazed Ceramic and machine-turned marble. The blend of these two materials creates an indication of great functionality and the use of the subject, allowing the intuitive interaction.
Inspiration: The design of the product is very novel but frisky with the top of the mill shaped in a way that makes it easy to hold. Vertically aligned creases make it more efficient for its daily use.
The interpretation of grounded spices on the vessel makes it very playful and interactive when combined with poppy colors. I have adapted the colors from spices to celebrate the ebullience of a product
Materials: This mill can be manufactured in wood, metal, ceramic, plastic, silicon and their composites.
