We all own tape dispensers. Unlike other stationery items, a tape dispenser has never been our object of interest. It is a mere utility product on our desk and not much attention is payed to how it looks.
I exclusively focused on Indian tape dispensers that are usually hefty with an advantage of single hand application. In contrast, the smaller portable types are much lighter requiring the use of both hands.
In order address this particular shortcoming among current tape dispenser designs, my aim was to redesign the concept with a modern twist   reminiscing product semantics to retain original its value.
75mm diameter tapes are commonly used in Indian households as well as co-operates.
Integrating geometry and sleek forms, I incorporated different mediums of design for ideation including pencil sketching, digital sketching, 3D, etc to explore divergent materials, forms, gestures and overall aesthetic appeal contingent to different enviroments.

After understadning the initial purpose of tape dispenser, I started looking for an inspiration in natural organic forms, properties of tape, mechanical rotating machines which would give my tape dispenser a character.
To start off, I plotted two points on the paper: one for its blade and the other for the tape later escorted by the strongest geometric shapes to provide the obligatory strength to the product.

The final outcome was an organic form with advent strong geometric composition adapted by silky features tape.
Keen angles, an accurate distance between the tape roll and the breakpoint, and the ascending arrangement of Seidig is appropriate for household as well as the formal official environment.
Fot the construction of the form, I used the most stable geometric shape: Traingle. traigular construction used in the form does not only provide the sturdiness but also allow user to cut a tape with single hand.
The design is slightly uplifted from middle bottom to ensure the ground clearance for effortless rotation of the wheel. The angle below blade secures the dangerous dip and will prevent collapsing when used in single hand.
The sleek design of the Seidig fits comfortably into one’s hand and makes laying and cutting tape quick and efficient.

A staggering strip of tape descends on  sharp angles derived by two locales is how the Seidig is established.
The wheel accenting by quiver lines become the centre of attraction when Seidig is in use.
Seidig is made up of the most common material: A single piece injection moulded ABS.
ABS provides perfect durability to the product giving it a long run use.
The branding of a product is German named after its property of being sleek and sliky.
Wanting to create not just another ordinary dispenser, I focused of giving the product not only an ergonomically correct feel but also a visual appeal when not in use.
Lesertcuting process was used during the mockup. Mockup does not contain the branding due to shortage in material processes.
