The Chicago Guide magazine publication is a conceptual magazine and article design that takes you through the not-so-touristy recommendations for the bustling city of Chicago. Rather than finding a standard travel article that recommended the cliché events, I chose an edgier article by VICE that spoke more towards the personality of Chicagoans and recommended places that locals are more familiar with. The overall design of this piece was inspired by the mis-matched-ness of the city's architecture, people, and yes, even the weather. The continual motif of the stars are a reminder of the Chicago flag and the 3-striped curved line throughout is to mimic the “L” or CTA trains that run through the city. The color scheme is inspired by the colors of the Chicago flag and the convergence of the many cultures within the city.
