For this project, my objective was to create a poster for a fictional band. My other objective was to convey an emotion. I found this project a bit more difficult, because it was hard for me to figure out how to depict emotion. To help me out with this project, I listened to a lot of punk rock music like Simple Plan and All Time Low.
I started out with sketching, and as you can see my final poster is very different from my original ideas. My first ideas were things like open mouths with tongues sticking out, or rain and umbrellas. After doing all this sketching I realized how cliche all of my original ideas were. So I started working on a completely different idea, which is what led me to the wolf.
I started working on my draft and this is what I came up with. I received a lot of feedback that was really helpful for me. One of the first things people told me was that the swirls coming out of the wolf's mouth was not giving off the punk rock vibe. They also suggested I play around with different colors and the sizing of things.
Here is what my final poster looked like. I added sharp lines coming out of the wolf mouth, and I changed the colors to all be within one color family. My hope was that this would make the poster feel more in unison, and give off a dark and edgy vibe. I think I conveyed emotion through this poster. The business and coolness of the poster remind me of different punk rock posters, and it remind me of how I feel when I listen to music.
