Art 230 - Business Card Project 2
The past few week of this project have been fun. Project 2 revolved around designing a personal business car. The purpose was to teach us as designers how to use typography in a decorative and informative way. We had to use elements of our name as creative elements for the final overall design. In the end they needed to be informative, organized, and complete.
We had to understand who is the card for, what do I do, how to contact me, and how do the elements relate to each other. We started with some basic sketches then moved on to digital sketches. We a small refining process we pick our best designing and moved onto color and how to finalize the designs and prepare them for print.
I really like how my cards turned out. It was a fun challenge fitting all the required information on the card. For the decorative text element I chose to use Skrid Design, which is what I call my freelance design business. I already had a color scheme form previous web design projects and used the yellow and green for a couple of my final cards. I think eventually if they where to be printed I would maybe include other colors such as blue and red and order the cards to have a few of each color, something unique and fun. I also think it would be interesting to include some glossy ink for the road map in the background. I tried to mimic this with the design, and it looks ok.
Overall this was a fun project and challenge and it taught me a lot about the design process and how to better refine our work. I had to learn some new things within Adobe, and had fun picking out a mockup to present my work.
