Every Rose Has Its Thorn

Street Art
"Every Rose Has Its Thorn" was painted for Talking Walls Mural Festival in Charlotte, North Carolina. Depicting whimsical female figures in bold color at a large scale, the title takes its name from the classic Poison song, "Every Rose Has Its Thorn".  Flowers are used symbolically, representing the bouquet (often traditionally received by women in the dating, marriage, or birth process) as both something desirable and yet something finite. The imagery playfully explores the dichotomy of flowers as fresh and beautiful; yet also dying, wilting, or being snapped off at their stems. Not meant to be viewed as a negative portrayal, it serves only as a reminder of life's duplicity in its many forms.
