Impermanence

Frozen forms of an ever-changing world sculpted by the constant flow of water and wind. These images were taken inside one of the many ice caves of Vatnajökull in Iceland. The 2,500 year old glacier is approximately 8,300 km2 and is about 1 km thick at its deepest point. Due to rising temperatures and a decrease in snowfall the glacier is estimated to be receding at rate of about 1 metre per year.
