Island Cartoon Educational

My mother is a grade-school teacher. She teaches kids how to read, write and the basics of math. A couple of weeks ago she asked me to draw an island for her classroom. The final product is a bit generic but I uploaded it here to show you a bit of my process for making it. I made a couple of quick drawings to ask her which one she likes the most.
The first one I drew was super basic, but with some extra time I got a bit more creative.
With this one I wanted to draw the ocean floor to make it a bit more visually interesting. I would have loved to complete this drawing because its my favorite of the bunch.
For this one, I went for a bit more realism. Islands aren't usually flat and sandy. Instead I drew more rocks and made it darker to represent grass and greenery. I explained it well enough but ultimately that's not what she needed.
Mom liked the most basic one for its simplicity except she also wanted some sort of sign to write things on. She put in the words herself. The one on the left says Mathematics and the one on the right is the Bulgarian language. From what I understand she wants to write the first letters of the names of all her students on little paper fishes and then put the fishes in order by who has the best grades under or around the islands.
After decorating the classroom, it now looks like this. My mother's idea for this year was to turn learning into a travel on the sea themed adventure. Tomorrow 16/09/2019 is the kids' first day at school. I hope they like their classroom. If mine looked half as good as this one when I was growing up, maybe I would have enjoyed going to school more.
