Checkpoint Marketing Site Redesign

Who is this for again?

Aimed at brand marketers, CMOs and producers, the marketing site should be one of the first touch points in Checkpoint’s contact stage, where it can help them cement the pre-established trust and convert them into customers.

Defining the ‘who’ and the ‘what’

It soon became clear that better defining the goal and scope of the site had to come first, and what better way of doing this than bombarding the founders with questions.

Some time was taken aside to drill down on the main objectives of the site and what features and sections it needed to meet those goals.

Sketches galore

Taking time aside to sketch in such a busy environments felt odd, hell even childish sometimes, but translating the final site map into simple, sketched wireframes allowed me to kickstart the ideation stage for both the visual design and the content needed without investing too much right way.

Focusing on the bare bones

With the bulk of the homework done, I now had the chance to push some pixels and create some grayscale wireframes of all the pages and the visual elements within them, setting aside aesthetic details in favour of a more well-defined, grid-based layout the entire team could better envision and feedback on.

FEEDBACK AND NOTES:
- Next time around, the grayscale wireframes should be less high-fidelity, and more focused on the aforementioned grid layout and navigation. Making it so hi-fi right away wasn't necessary.

Branding

Existing brand assets* like the logo, colours, typefaces and imagery were a great starting point, but we soon realised how crucial other aspects like the brand voice and personality were going to be for the company’s long-term strategy, which we had the chance to test and develop further upon finalising the site’s content.

Attributes and personalities explored after the team engaged in a brand discovery exercise. All values the team felt resonated with Checkpoint’s past, present and future identity👇🏾

*Due to time and technical constraints, the site was implemented with variations compared to the final designs show above
(Don't you just love rebrands...Checkpoint is now GEEIQ)
