Frankenstein: A Novel by Mary Shelley

Illustrator Draw
Few works of literature have done more to influence science fiction stories than Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, and fewer still have managed to stay relevant for over 200 years.

This commemorative poster style illustration for Mary Shelley's Frankenstein retells the famous story in one illustration. From the birth by lightning in Doctor Frankenstein's castle, to the monster's death by fire, this artwork invites you to follow the journey from start to finish. The monster's hand reaching into the pool of water to examine the beauty of the fallen flowers is broken when he gazes upon his own hideous reflection. The realization of what he has been made into drives the monster beyond madness and catapults the story toward the final, fiery resolution.

The illustration was originally commissioned for Arizona State University's THE FRANKENSTEIN BICENTENNIAL PROJECT where it was on display and toured as part of the FRANKENSTEIN AT 200 exhibit during 2018.

The Process started with a grayscale comp that evolved into the slender vertical design utilized for the Frankenstein at 200 exhibit. The illustration was created using Adobe Illustrator Draw on Apple iPad Pro using the Apple Pencil. Then the artwork was exported to Adobe Photoshop where the typography and halftone patters were composited with the illustration and the final color separation was created. After the exhibit collectors wanted a version of the poster they could own. The artwork was reworked to fit traditional poster dimensions.
This museum-quality art print of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is illustrated by artist: Brian Miller (Star Wars, The X-Files, Doctor Who) and produced on heavy matte, acid-free, archival paper in three sizes: 12" x 18", 24" x 36", and 18" x 24".
These collectable art prints are created to commemorate the 200 years and counting of Mary Shelly's Frankenstein and are exclusively available from Oktopolis.
