Archer illustrations by Oktopolis: The Art of Brian Miller
Archer Airways invites you to sit back, relax, and enjoy a cocktail made with only the finest Old Buncombe Bourbon on your journey to the island of Mitimotu. Board the "Loose Goose" where Captain Archer and his co-pilot Pam will fly you on your charter tour to see the sights of the island referred to by the locals as Danger Island. Keep your good eye on the watch for first mate, Crackers the parrot. In case of emergency Captain Archer says, stay calm and pour a glass. Captain Archer was drunk when he created this safety poster!
I was delighted when FOX reached out to me with an offer to create officially licensed artwork inspired by Archer. I'm a longtime fan and have always been impressed with visual look and feel of the series. Archer's animation style mirrors the aesthetic of Mad Men and mid-twentieth century comic art featuring pronounced thick, bold outlines. I wanted to bring that aesthetic to the artwork while focusing on Archer's penchant for fine Scotch and Bourbon.
For the typography I wanted to lean into the word play of the series and this seems to really connect with fans who send me photos of this artwork displayed proudly over their home bars or with their other Archer collectables.
Both illustrations were sold as limited edition fine-art prints by the Dark Ink Art imprint of FOX licensee Acme Archives. In addition both Archer and FX used the illustrations for marketing and promotional purposes over social media.
