Canterbury Cathedral

CLIENT
Canterbury Cathedral is one of the most important Christian structures in England and the seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury.

BRIEF
When Datum was approached to be part of the project we were awestruck and a little daunted in roughly equal measures. Our role was to come up with a hoarding solution during extensive five-year works on the building.

PROJECT
Our hoarding solution had to protect the integrity of the areas of the cathedral under repair whilst respecting the paying visitor experience and ensuring that everyone was able to enjoy the unique views and sight lines. However we had to produce and install 300 di-bond panels in just 10 days.

OUTCOME
We met the tight turnaround target and created 300 hoardings that were essential to the repair process but we also wanted to ensure that the photography and content on the panels was engaging and aesthetically pleasing. All of this whilst considering the different angles and sight lines at play.
