These are design submissions for a new magazine publication called 'New Graphic Design' which was to be influenced by modernist and post-modernist art values in layout, typography and style. The title of the issue was to be 'Form follows function - an exploration of modernism and post-modernism' and within the layout there had to be clear indications of modernist ideals and be a visual representation of the clean cut, sans-serif-heavy and block coloured visuals that existed during the modern/post-modern era. Included in my magazine is a timeline of modernism and post-modernism art movements, artist research, book reviews, and analysis of three manifestos, plus my own manifesto. I also chose to include some shots of the Hilton building in Manchester, which I photographed and used for the front cover of the magazine, because of its geometric and stark, sleek appearance.
