Honored to have worked on this amazing project with the creative team at BET! We commissioned to shoot the key art for the new series of Tales, a show which features the story behind a hip hop song from some of the worlds most amazing artists. Kayne West launched the show with the "Brothers" episode and Cardi B's "Bodak Yellow" episode blew my mind. Its an amazing show, one should definitely binge watch it!
What's surprising is I never get contracted to shoot still life and was sure that they had the wrong guy, but I was super excited about the amazing creative and really connected with the creative director and felt his clear and powerful vision for the key art. I was hooked and up for the challenge. So whenever we get a project that is a bit out of our comfort zone we look for amazing collaborators that can help bring the vision to life. We needed an amazing prop stylist to help us bring together all the critical elements and lead us to the promise land of arranging all the small elements. We found the perfect collaborator in the talents of Ariana Salvato, she is a total badass with still life and was perfect for the job. Please check out her work, she was amazing! We also worked with Jana Heidenreich as a retoucher, she is amazing with color and was the perfect steady hand to clean up the details!
This was the second project of the summer that was something we don't normally shoot but one that we really enjoyed testing our range and sinking our teeth into creating. Enjoy and please let us know your favorite!
