For this project we had to create an 8 page zine that covered a topic that we had chosen. I chose 'Message in the music' and taking the lyrics, what they meant to people and how I could link it all together. 

My first idea consisted of breaking up typography and adding glass in the background to fit the lyrics. The lyrics of 'I'm falling to pieces' made me consider how I could break something up or make it fall apart to fit the lyrics. I added the shatter effect in the background to accompany the broken text, this made the lyrics and the image link well together.I also added a brick/stone effect on the type as in the music video, the people and places within the video break away and a wall is one of the main things that 'fall to pieces'.

For a second concept, I focused a bit more into graffiti and using people to put across the message. I still wasn't sure what way I wanted to go with the project but I knew that using photography would be beneficial. When we visited London, this graffiti in 'The Ashtray' made up my mind for what the setting and style was going to be. Writing on walls in one of the best ways to get out emotions and feelings and linking this with what the lyrics may mean so having lyrics of 'Writing on the wall', it made everything link together.

Going along with the graffiti idea and the photography aspect of things, I wanted to explore more lyrics that have a subtle but true meaning. The lyrics of 'Don't start what you can't finish', puts everything into context to do with life and the decisions we make. The smug look on my face in the photograph links well with the lyrics that have been sung.
