Kansas/Missouri Dream Alliance
Rebranding, event graphics & physical collateral

In 2018, I was approached to design the new logo for Kansas/Missouri Dream Alliance, which exists to serve and advocate for immigrant rights and higher education for undocumented youth regardless of citizenship status, sexual orientation, race, color, gender, and national or ethnic origin. This is a cause that is near and dear to my heart, so I jumped at the chance.

Working with the team at KSMODA, we arrived at their current logo, below.
While designing this logo, it was very important to the client that I include equal measures of hope and protest. We went through countless symbology before settling on a megaphone and a butterfly. Every year, millions of monarch butterflies migrate from the continental US over 2,500 miles to groves of oyamel fir trees, and in the spring, migrate back north. The representation of the butterfly is an apt metaphor for the work KSMODA is doing to help immigrants in Kansas and Missouri.
The main reason that KSMODA needed rebranding is that it was about to put on a several-hundred seat Gala to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The logo from a decade ago didn't represent the work that KSMODA had evolved to do. Above: KSMODA stickers, T-shirt, and Gala poster/advertisement created for the KSMODA 10th Anniversary Gala.
Pictured above are select pages from the gala booklet created for the event.
Pictured above are community organizers who work for KSMODA against the step & repeat backdrop I created for use at the event.
