about the hike
It’s a classic Hiking Istanbul hike - eccentric, varied, including places which are fascinating in their partial desolation and places which are beautiful. A little over 21kms in a little under 8&½ hours including a scenic lunch break and a tea break in Paşaköy. An average pace of around 2.5km/h which is about normal.

Weather & seasons: A very walkable 24 degrees, mostly cloudy, with light drizzle arriving for the last hour or so. This is an all seasons hike, more or less no wet or muddy patches, whatever the season. Rather exposed for full summer but anyway walkable at any time of year.

Agriculture: Pine forestry. Free-grazing on the marginal lands though we hardly saw any grazing animals today. Crops on the motorway-bordered land between Paşaköy & Nişantepe.

Feral & domestic animals: No feral dogs joined us today. We passed by a couple of probably Roma horses in Nişantepe. Village poultry.
Weather forecast (as of 14.7): 24 degrees during the day, 17 after sunset. Mostly cloudy. Light showers expected during the afternoon getting wetter after dusk. Some breeze.
