Cubetto

Byblos and other cities of Lebanon are currently facing the issue of the cover privatization of land, which has resulted in a lack of public space. In addition to this, there is also the problem of pollution along the coast that has left to many beautiful beaches littered with plastics. This intervention seeks to address this need for public space in Lebanon by situating itself in the neutral territory of the Mediterranean. The pavilion is meant to be a recreational amenity that is accessible to everyone in the community. Cubetto's frame is constructed from renewable and recycled materials to inspire local architecture that is both socially and environmentally sustainable. Within this frame is a parabolic form that is constructed from hung strips of fabric. The complex layering of space, while its lightness allows Cubetto to become animated by surrounding winds and attract interest of passers by. Here, we have provided suggestions of how Cubetto can be used, however we welcome you as a user to find new and creative ways to experience the sea with this new tool.
