The world is working to achieve SDG targets by 2030 but to fulfil global goals requires taking local actions. The KnowTheSDGs initiative, a youth-led campaign is working tirelessly to play their part in making the sure the 2030 agenda is attainable. 


A December 2018 survey conducted by U-Report revealed that 61% out of 274,599 respondents did not know about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 47% out of 210,578 U-Reporters were of the opinion that the Nigerian government is solely responsible for the implemention the SDGs in our country. This group came up with the idea to conduct a sensitization program and teach the SDGs in their local community. 

The first phase of the KnowTheSDGs campaign was to train facilitators on the SDGs, equipping them with the knowledge of the goals, it's targets and actions that can be taken to achieve the goals. 

The final phase was to identify secondary across Nasarawa state and enlighten them about the SDGs and how the younger generation can also be involved in achieving the global goals. Through a period of 6 months, the KnowTheSDGs campaign went to 8 schools in Nasarawa state with over 1,500 enlightened on the SDGs. The objective of the initiative is to see young Nigerians know and get involved in the partnership to meet the 2030 agenda. This mission is being fulfilled.
