Project Spark - game Concept

in 2015/16 I worked as Senior Artist in a game company called SuperSolid in London.
I was in charge of defining the overall look of project "Spark" and was
the main concept/assets designer. Project Spark was a game revolving around your character living in their neighbourhood, developing their hobbies and careers of their dreams
and decorating and evolving their home space.
I worked with the lead character 3d artist to create guidelines for all the faces and body types,
skin colours, hairstyles we required trying to cover all possibilities
to offer the best customisation experience.

Here you can see the hairstyle chart I created for women and men. I proposed that the player should be able to use any of these hairstyles for any gender.
The hair colours have been created with a gradient re-colouring method that allowed me to just design a hairstyle in black and white and with minimum space and effort being able to apply any colour to it. This way we have been able to offer a very wide choice of colours applicable to any of the hairstyle I designed. Here I applied the gradients I created to one of the hairstyle to make sure
everything worked as it should.

The same gradient re-colouring method applied to the skin colours, saving us a lot of space!
Here you can see a chart of clothing categories and suggestion on how the 3d model for each of these categories should look like. I also created a list of all the items of clothing, shoes and accessories
we needed for launch.
Here are some workstations I connected. These are the tools the character needs
to develop their careers and hobbies.
Some concept designs for the workstations
And here some finished 3D assets of some of the workstations, modelled by the 3d asset artist and textured by me and other artists of the team.
The workstations and stoves had different evolution stages, usually between 2 and 3 so I made sure to create the different stages in a efficient manner in which you could clearly see the evolution but would not have to create too many extra features for it to be visible.
Here I show how the stove would look from both points of view and in a stage as Active ( when used by the player) and inactive. Making sure that the difference is clear.
I also worked on a very detail pdf document where I collected and listed all the different pieces of furniture, walls, floors, accessories that needed to be created for launch.
I divided them by categories and rooms.
Here are some finished pieces of furniture. Modelled by the 3d artist and Textured by me.
Some wallpapers and floors I made for decorating the space.
And last but not least I concepted some of the main features of the neighbourhood.
You can see a few examples here (Sadly I cannot find the work I made on the neighbourhood park which was one important feature!).
Main square fountain concept and final 3D model.
Shopping and trading market design and final 3D model
The end,
Thanks for watching!
