Art Samberg's profile

MIT's Samberg Conference Center

Arthur J. “Art” Samberg currently heads Hawkes Financial, LLC, a family office firm, in Katonah, New York. As one of the most successful and best-known hedge fund managers in the world, he has been profiled in multiple publications over the years. Art Samberg is a noted philanthropist, whose contributions to Columbia Business School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology - both his alma maters - are among the schools’ significant gifts.

In 2016, MIT announced that its newly renovated conference center building would be named in honor of Mr. Samberg (Class of ‘62) and his wife. From its location offering scenic views along the Charles River and the Boston city skyline, the Samberg Conference Center spans two of the building’s two upper floors, offering 20,000 square feet of glass-surrounded rooftop space on the seventh floor alone. It continues to serve as the host site of numerous events connected to the school’s academic community.

The Samberg Conference Center is one component of a historic Art Deco building that underwent a comprehensive renovation. The center is built on the site of the former MIT Faculty Club on the sixth floor.

On the occasion of the construction of the center, MIT officials noted that Mr. Samberg’s generosity would help the school further its mission of bringing a diverse group of thinkers and innovators together in collaborative work.
